Slapton Sands Windsurfing Guide
General info
Windsurfing ratings
Slapton Sands has plenty of windsurfing freeride potential. The shingle bank at high tide drops off quite quickly so be aware that on a swell, this is probably not a good place to hang out - unless you're looking to warranty your kit. Not a wave-sailing location but will be a good option to get on the water when other beaches aren't really happening and you're up for slalom, freeride or cruising.
That said, the Kitesurfing potential of Slapton Sands far exceed that of it's windsurfing potential, so if you are in the area check it out.
For those folk looking for easy access to the beach, look no further. Park you camper right up on the shingle beach.
If you are looking to go surfing when Bantham is onshore, try Blackpool just further North.
Features
This is a good option in a Southerly wind when nearby Bigbury On Sea is too onshore and frustrating. Do not expect waves here, this is a freeride only location. That said, if anyone knows better, let us know!
Considerations
There are a couple of cozy pubs in Strete - the risk here is obvious.
